SEPTEMBER 15: Who gets to feel at home?
Today is International Day of Democracy, which gives us a timely opportunity to think about participation, representation and the importance of having a voice in the decisions that affect our lives. While democracy is usually considered in terms of society and government, the principles behind it can also make us pause and think about our workplaces, where participation can help people move from simply being present to feeling that they are genuinely part of the organisation they work for.
SEPTEMBER 14: What Makes a Workplace Feel Welcoming?
As we come to the end of another week, it feels like a good moment to pause and think about what inclusion actually feels like in our everyday working lives. We have explored the importance of feeling safe enough to speak, the difference between being invited and genuinely heard, and the role leaders can play in creating belonging. As we reflect, we can look not only at what our organisations are doing, but at the small moments we each have the power to influence, because sometimes the culture of a workplace is shaped just as much by an individual interaction as it is by a formal policy.
SEPTEMBER 13: How Leaders Create Belonging
Today, we are looking at the role leaders can play in creating workplaces where people feel that they belong, not because they have learned how to conform, but because they know their differences, experiences and perspectives are welcomed as part of the organisation. Making sure people know that there is a place for them at the table and that their voice matters when they get there.
SEPTEMBER 12: The difference between being invited and being heard
Today, we're looking at how we can move beyond simply inviting people to the table and create workplaces where people know that what they bring to that table truly matters.
SEPTEMBER 11: Feeling safe enough to speak
Today we’re looking at why psychological safety matters so much in the workplace. Making sure everyone feels that they can ask a question, admit that they have made a mistake, suggest an alternative, raise a concern, ask for help or respectfully challenge an idea without worrying that doing so will lead to embarrassment, exclusion or damage to the way they are perceived.
SEPTEMBER 10: Being yourself, not someone else
Today is about creating the kind of spaces where people feel safe enough to be real, where differences are welcomed rather than questioned, and where children grow up knowing that they do not have to perform, pretend or change who they are to deserve a place at the table.
Because we want to create working environments that say - “You don't have to pretend here.”
SEPTEMBER 9: When People Feel They Have to Hide at Work
Today, we're looking at the small, everyday things we can all do to create workplaces where people don't feel the need to edit themselves to fit in, and where difference is met with curiosity, respect and genuine acceptance.
SEPTEMBER 8: Belonging Is More Than Being Included in the Meeting
Today, as we mark International Literacy Day, we're thinking about the connection between literacy, access and belonging. What does it really means to have the opportunity to understand, participate and be heard?
SEPTEMBER 7: Weekly Reflection - Where do you feel most like yourself?
This week, we’re reflecting on those people, places and moments that give us a sense of belonging and thinking about how we can help create that same feeling for others. And today we’re asking - where do you feel most comfortable being completely yourself? Who are you with when you don't feel the need to filter, perform or fit in?
SEPTEMBER 6: The Small moments that say “You belong here”
Inclusion is often talked about through big things — policies, strategies, accessibility and representation. These are all incredibly important but sometimes feel outside of our control. Belonging is supported by the small moments that happen between us every day.
SEPTEMBER 5: You can feel lonely in a crowded room
As we continue exploring the Power of Belonging, today we are looking at why being around people is not always enough, and why the quality of our connections matter far more than the number of people in our lives.
SEPTEMBER 4: Why we all want to feel seen
Today, we are exploring why being seen matters so much, what happens when people feel invisible and how small acts of recognition can help create spaces where people feel valued, understood and truly part of something.
Because sometimes, belonging can begin with knowing that someone sees you.
SEPTEMBER 3: The quiet signs that someone feels left out
Today, we’re looking beyond the obvious signs of exclusion and thinking about the quieter experiences that can so easily go unnoticed, while exploring how a little more awareness, curiosity and intention can help us create spaces where people do not simply have a place, but genuinely feel that they belong.
SEPTEMBER 2: Fitting in is not the same as belonging
Today, we’re exploring the difference between fitting ourselves into a space and creating spaces where there is genuinely room for us to belong.
Fitting in asks, “How can I change myself so I am accepted?”
Belonging says, “There is room for me here as I am.”
SEPTEMBER 1: The Power Of Belonging
September is a month of new beginnings, fresh routines and reconnecting with the people and spaces around us, making it the perfect time to think about something we all need, wherever we are in life: belonging.
This month, we are moving beyond the idea of belonging as simply being included and exploring what it really means to feel seen, valued, heard and accepted. Whether that is within our workplace, our community, our friendships or the wider world.
July 31: The Ripple Effect
July 31 - Today's final blog of the month is a reminder that every child who feels accepted has the potential to accept others, every child who experiences kindness is more likely to show kindness in return, and every child who grows up knowing they belong has the power to help build communities where others feel they belong too. Because creating a kinder, fairer and more inclusive world doesn't begin with extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. It begins with ordinary people choosing, every single day, to raise children who know their own worth, recognise the value in others and never underestimate the difference one person can make.
July 30: Raising Children Who Feel Safe to Be Themselves
July 30 - Today's blog is a reflection on the kind of childhood we hope to create and the lasting impact that unconditional acceptance can have on a child's mental wellbeing. It reminds us that while we cannot remove every obstacle our children will face, we can give them a place where they always know they belong.
July 29: Small Conversations Change Big Futures
July 29 - Today's blog is a reminder that you don't need perfect words or perfectly timed conversations to have a lasting influence. What matters most is creating a home where children feel listened to, where questions are welcomed and where curiosity is met with patience rather than judgement. Because those conversations are often helping to shape the people they will one day become.
July 28: A Future Worth Building
July 28 - Today's blog is a chance to step back and look at the bigger picture. It reminds us that the future is built in our homes, our classrooms and our communities, one act of kindness, one thoughtful conversation and one compassionate child at a time to create a future that is kinder, fairer and more inclusive than the one we inherited.
July 27: The Adults They’re Watching
July 27 - Today's blog is a reminder that raising resilient, compassionate children is about recognising that our everyday actions help shape the people our children are becoming, and that some of the most important lessons they will ever learn are the ones we teach without saying a word. Because while our children may not always remember everything we tell them, they will always remember how we showed them to live.
