SEPTEMBER 10: Being yourself, not someone else
Creating workplaces, communities and everyday spaces where everyone feels seen, valued and able to be themselves.
How often do we change little pieces of ourselves because we want to fit in, be liked, avoid standing out or simply make life a little easier, and how often do we stop to think about how tiring it can be when we feel we have to be a version of ourselves that feels more acceptable to everyone else?
For children and young people especially, the pressure to fit in can be incredibly powerful, but belonging should never require someone to make themselves smaller, quieter or less themselves.
Today is about creating the kind of spaces where people feel safe enough to be real, where differences are welcomed rather than questioned, and where children grow up knowing that they do not have to perform, pretend or change who they are to deserve a place at the table.
Because we want to create working environments that say - “You don't have to pretend here.”
