OCTOBER 27: storiEs untold

Using lived experience to celebrate our communities, share their stories and build greater understanding.

The history we grow up learning can often feel like a complete account of the people who shaped our world, but the stories that have been recorded and celebrated haven't always reflected the full picture. For generations, the contributions of Black people and women have been overlooked or given less recognition, leaving important achievements and experiences missing from the history we have come to know.

As we continue exploring Community & Legacy and Honouring Our Communities, we're looking at whose stories have traditionally been remembered, why the achievements of Black people and women have so often been left out, and how recognising those contributions can help us build a richer, more accurate understanding of the past and the legacy we pass on to future generations.
