August 10: Feeling overwhelmed

This month is an invitation to challenge our way of thinking. Let’s Talk Honestly About the realities of family life during the summer holidays.

Parenting is full of busy days. There are school holidays to navigate, meals to prepare, endless questions to answer, household jobs to keep on top of and the emotional responsibility of caring for the people we love most. It's no wonder that, from time to time, many parents feel stretched.

The difficulty is that we often become so used to carrying on that we stop noticing when "busy" has quietly become "overwhelmed". We tell ourselves we'll slow down tomorrow, that things will settle down next week or that everyone else seems to be coping just fine. Before we know it, we're running on empty without ever having given ourselves permission to pause.

Today's blog is about recognising those early signs before exhaustion becomes burnout. It's a reminder that acknowledging you're overwhelmed isn't a sign that you're failing as a parent, it's a sign that you're human. And just like everyone else in your family, you deserve care, compassion and support too.
