OCTOBER 1: Community

Using lived experience to celebrate our communities, share their stories and build greater understanding.

This October, we're celebrating community.

Inspired by the Black History Month 2026 theme, Honouring Our Communities, we're spending the month exploring the people, stories, traditions and connections that make communities what they are. From the familiar faces and quiet contributors to the culture we share and the legacies we create, we'll be celebrating the everyday contributions that often make the biggest difference.

Throughout October, we'll be sharing the stories, experiences and everyday moments that remind us just how much community matters.

Black History Month: The Audacity To Occupy Space: Reimagining Leadership Through an Equity Lens

This webinar explores the structural and cultural conditions that determine who is seen as a leader, and challenges how institutions define, reward, and retain leadership. It asks what it takes to occupy leadership spaces when they were not designed to be inclusive especially for racially marginalised people and what must change within organisations to make leadership genuinely equitable.

This session is not about ‘inviting’ people into leadership. It’s about interrogating the gatekeeping practices, racialised expectations, and hierarchies of legitimacy that shape who gets to lead and how they are treated when they do.
