The summer holidays often begin with the very best of intentions. We imagine family adventures, happy children, quality time together and weeks filled with memories that will last a lifetime. Yet for many parents and carers, those hopes can quickly become mixed with pressure. Pressure to keep everyone entertained, to make every day count and to create a summer that somehow lives up to the picture-perfect images we see all around us.
Today's blog is a gentle reminder that childhood isn't built on six weeks of extraordinary experiences. More often than not, it's the ordinary moments, sharing breakfast together, laughing over a board game, walking to the park or simply spending time with the people who love us, that leave the deepest impression.
As we begin this month's series, we'd like to encourage you to take a step back from the pressure of creating the "perfect" summer and instead focus on something much more meaningful. Because your children don't need every day to be magical. They just need you.

This interactive session explores the rich and diverse heritage of South Asian communities in the UK, with a personal focus on the British Pakistani experience. Drawing on the facilitator’s family history, including their grandfather’s Windrush-era migration, the session highlights the resilience, cultural expression, and challenges faced by South Asians across generations.
Topics include migration journeys, language and generational gaps, living between two cultures, the importance of religious celebrations as moments of identity, and the ongoing challenges of under-employment despite educational achievements. The session fosters understanding, celebrates cultural pride, and encourages authentic allyship and inclusion.
