Yep, this is the same question - and the same answer - as 2025. Just 9% of FTSE 100 companies have a female CEO.

If you got this wrong you might have been fooled by all the press around women on boards. Yes, the percentage of women on boards has increased, but they’re still not getting into the top post at the same pace.

Yep, no change from last year’s quiz. Zero of the 9 female CEOs are Black.

The Green Park Business Leaders Index 2024 finally showed a positive increase in the number of ethnic minority leaders at every seniority level for the first time since they began their analysis (in 2013) albeit at a much slower rate than female representation.

4. At last count, women held around 45% of board director roles in FTSE 100 companies - but what is the board level pay gap?

The correct answer is:

C. Significantly higher than the UK gender pay gap at about 68%

At last count, the average pay for board level women was £335,953 which is 68% lower than the average pay for men (£1.07m).

At the 2024 general election, 263 women were elected to the House of Commons (out of a total of 650 MPs) – the highest ever proportion of female MPs.

The House of Lords has 260 female peers, but they represent a smaller proportion (31%) of the 836 sitting peers.

A 2024 Unesco report found that 49% of girls drop out of sports during adolescence – a whopping six times higher than the dropout rate of adolescent boys – and it is often associated with a lack of confidence and negative body image.

During the UEFA Women's Euro 2025, England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton was pivotal in the knockout stages, saving four penalties across two shootouts (two against Sweden and two against Spain in the final) to help the Lionesses win the tournament.
